Peacock Primary Care's main goal is to offer medication assisted treatment (MAT) to every resident of Louisiana who is diagnosed with Opioid Use Disorder (OUD). This goal can only be achieved through a telehealth based clinic.
Peacock Primary Care will provide a higher level of quality of care and their patients will experience the following benefits from the following telehealth methods.
-Increased flexibility in appointment scheduling, patients will not be confined to the constructs of "9-5pm" business hours
-Effective and efficient coordination of care
-Ability to assess patient's home environment, meet patient's home support system, determine if an in-home visit is needed
-Ability to share information for psychoeducation and assessment through screensharing allowing the provider to display videos, slideshows and other visual aides. Mental health and substance use assessments can also be done and evaluated in real time
-Efficient connections to crisis services-in the event of emergency type situations, the provider can instruct the patient and/or family members to call 911 while the provider remains connected to the patient via telephone or video
-Increased access to experienced providers and high quality care
-Improved access to and continuity of care
-Increased convenience that removes transitional barriers to care including geographic locations, psychological barriers, accessibility for individuals with physical, visual or hearing impairments and patients who are isolated or incarcerated.
-Allows patients to receive care without having to take time off from work
-Alleviates the burden of finding childcare or care givers for elderly family members
-Reduction is stigma associated with OUD and seeking treatment
